DISNEY ON ICE FACTS AS TOUR COMES TO GLASGOW SSE HYDRO

Disney on Ice is taking over the SSE Hydro for four days and Scots fans of the great Walt himself can’t wait to welcome the spectacular. 
The show runs from Thursday April 11 to Sunday April 14 and we’ve compiled some Disney data for you to make the occasion. 

1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarves star Dopey was meant to be a chatterbox, but producers couldn’t find a voice to suit him so he went silent instead.

2.Jackie Chan played the Beast’s voice for the Chinese translation of Beauty and the Beast—including the singing. He even sings the title track in Mandarin with Sarah Chen.

3. It takes about two days to unload the props for Disney On Ice and the backstage crew is made up of about 14 people, all working together on lighting, the music, the backdrop, the sets and the props that bring the show to life.

4. To mark the show coming to Glasgow, TriBeCa US diner in Glasgow’s Bell Street has created three new Disney style treats- Pink Princess and Genie In A Glass milkshakes with lots of magic flavours and a colour-in Mickey Mouse pancake with edible colouring like sprinkles, strawberry and chocolate syrup. They are only available from 4pm-8:30pm while the show is here. 

5. The Beatles were originally asked to provide music for the Jungle Book but John Lennon refused. Other real life figures have inspired Disney including Tom Cruise Who was the inspiration for Aladdin's face and Alyssa Milano who helped to inspire Ariel’s features.

6. Dwarf names that were passed over in Snow White were: Jumpy, Deafy, Dizzy, Wheezy, Hickey, Baldy, Gabby, Nifty, Sniffy, Swift, Lazy, Puffy, Stuffy, Tubby, Shorty, and Burpy.

7. On average forty five trailers arrive in each city for Disney On Ice with nearly 5000 LED lights per tour and 250,000 rhinestone Swarovski crystals on display per show.

SUSAN BOYLE GEARING UP FOR BIG 2019

THE incredible Susan Boyle cannot wait until her performance on America’s Got Talent airs in January. 

Susan said: “I received a phone call from Simon Cowell and flew over to the States for the show.”

The singing star from West Lothian who made her mark on judges including Heidi Klum who I’m told was a massive fan, was on sparkling form at the Scottish Music Awards on Saturday night at Glasgow’s SECC.

I’ve had the privilege of her company a number of times now and she’s looking better than ever.

Before singing at the bash to raise funds and awareness for Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity, Susan who has been working on a brand new album told me: “You do get nervous on nights like these but it’s good nerves, exciting. It’s a very special night for Nordoff Robbins too -the 25th anniversary so congratulations to them.”

After seeing a clip of herself on stage with Elaine Paige Susan who sang Wild Horses beautifully and was wearing a Frox of Falkirk fuchsia dress commented: “I’ve come a long way and I didn’t realise I’d done so much so I was very humbled.”

We will be seeing a lot more of the star next year when her new album comes out. She told me to expect a mix of classic and new songs on it and that she has had some fun making it in the studio. 

OUTLANDER CAITRIONA CANT WAIT FOR MORE SEASONS

CAITRIONA Balfe reckons there will be many more seasons of Outlander if the books are anything to go by.
Catriona who was in Glasgow's Radisson hotel for BAFTA Scotland where she won a Best Actress award said: "We're definitely finishing season three and filming season four and Diana has said book ten will be her last so there's six potential seasons in there.
I think everyone, we love this show, we love this job.
As long as the story is interesting and the writing is good, I'm up for continuing so we'll see how long it goes for."
Caitriona said of her award: "We've won things before and we have an amazing Scottish crew and most of our team is Scottish and it's really nice to get recognised here in Scotland cause everyone puts their heart and soul into the job and I think it's important for everyone who works on the show so that's cool."

MEL B GOES SEXY SPICE WITH PROFESSOR GREEN IN EDINBURGH

SPICE Girl Mel B showed off her tighter than tight outfit at Edinburgh TV festival as she teased Professor Green about his newly single life.
The star was in cheeky mode as she presented a special edition of lip sync battle for top telly Chiefs at the EICC.
She asked co presenter Prof Green: "How are you these days Prof?"
He replied: "Single" referring to his recent split with Made in Chelsea's Millie Mackintosh.
She then gave him some banter adding: "Yeah right look at you. C'mon how is it really going?"
The Prof replied: "It is going alright really."


Mel who told the showbizlion.com she was wearing "PVC" enjoyed hosting the show admitting that telly execs were crazier than the rest of the population.
She didn't comment on the forthcoming Spice Girl Reunion plans which will see her team up with Emma and Geri for twentieth anniversary celebrations.
