US BOYBAND 5WEST HAPPY TO TAKE OVER FROM BOYZONE AFTER RECENT TOUR SUPPORT

US Boyband 5West reckon they’ve been handed the baton by Boyzone to carry on their pop legacy after supporting the Irish lads on their last ever tour.
Theshowbizlion.com recently caught up with the four funny lads during their visit to Scotland to chat about their music and new single The Stars About You.
‘Fun and poppy’ are how the four amigos describe their music and they are keen to bring a new energy to the stage.
Luke , 17, Owen, 19, Jon Paul, 21 and Peet, 29 had to audition for a place in the band and they admit they are lucky to all get on.
The band, who initially began as a five piece,  made their first live performance as a group in South Africa at The President’s Ball before headlining Cape Town’s Mr Gay World 2019. An invitation to perform at Grand Canaria Pride (supporting Eurovision’s Conchita) was followed by spots at Pride Festivals in the UK where the group then hit the road to perform at county shows, holiday resorts, high profile charity events (including a tribute for England legend Duncan Edwards), under 18 nights, and their own school tour.
Linguist Luke who used to live in Monaco and is described by the other lads as seventeen going on forty eight said: “We auditioned in LA and we met in Nashville in February and that afternoon we recorded our first single. Every day it feels like we are fine tuning this so its pretty cool.”
Peet, the loveable redhead in the band couldn’t wait to come to Scotland to explore his ancestry.
He said: “My great grandma was from Scotland and I’m really into finding out more.”

The boys have been learning a lot from their elders including Ronan Keating who they describe as a father figure.
Charmer Jon Paul explained: “We met Ronan just  before we went on stage and he was in flip flops with a sweater on. We had fifteen seconds before we sang and were shaking and he just was so casual and said good luck.  He was looking like a dad and he’s a living legend.”
Owen, who was keen to try the haggis on his trip and loves fast cars, can’t wait to come back to Scotland with the rest of the band and make some new Scottish friends.
He said: “We’ve really enjoyed and appreciated all the shows we’ve done so far this year. We aren’t expecting things to fall into our laps and are prepared to work really hard, to get out there and perform wherever we can and to as many people as possible. It’s been so encouraging to see the reaction from the audiences to our songs and our shows.”
The boys new single ‘Stars About You’ is out now co-written with Grammy Award winning producer Bryan Todd (Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus).

WATCH OWEN PAUL FALL OFF STAGE AT EIGHTIES FESTIVAL

Beverley Lyons
EIGHTIES Star Owen Paul cracked his ribs, sprained his wrist and lost his memory when he fell off the stage and plunged six feet head first onto the ground at a festival last weekend.
And the My Favourite Waste of Time singer  who hit fame with the catchy song in 1986 claims that time slowed down as he fell to the ground with an almighty thud three songs into his performance at Tropicana Nights Eighties Festival in Southend.
Glasgow born Owen, who is now out of hospital where he had scans, x rays and treatment following the incident said he was trying to stand on a speaker to get nearer the audience when he realised too late that it wasn’t supported by anything.
He said: “Everything seemed to be in slow motion so I knew I was in trouble. .when I had expected to be be standing freely on a speaker. Then of course I hit the ground full in the face with an almighty thud..then the slow motion was gone. I used my superpowers lol.”
Remarkably, Owen who fractured two ribs during the fall continued singing his song Crowded House’s Weather With You as his manager and backing singer Lynne watched on in amazement.

He said: ”It wasn’t sore at all in the thirty or so minutes during the rest of my show. I told my manager and backing vocalist on stage that I thought I had broken my ribs but that we should carry on. It wasn't until I was in the ambulance at the side of the stage that the pain arrived..such is adrenalin.”
“I actually have little or no recollection of anything afterwards until I saw the footage, but in reality it's probably the experience of thousands of gigs I've performed at since I was a teenager that made me react in such a way.”
Owen, who says he once fell of the stage in 1986  at the Manchester Apollo on his first UK tour and was grabbed at the time by the mainly teenage audience before security stepped in, was rushed straight to hospital by ambulance.
Medics told him he could easily have broken his neck with the fall.
He said: “I truly had no idea what had happened until I was shown the footage that the paramedics had seen which is why they were ready when I completed the show. I actually managed to sing another seven songs before I left the stage. My family thought it was quite funny and attention seeking until they saw what happened. .as my mum and the doctors said, I could easily have broken my neck and worse. Apparently I bounced off speakers a bit on the way down.I have no recollection of that. My bruised legs and back know I did though so I’m very lucky.”
Owen has found it excruciating to sing since the weekend but managed to fight through the pain to appear on stage again at Lets Rock Liverpool on Saturday.
He said: “Clearly as my rib cage is right up against my lungs and diaphragm it’s  excruciating just to breathe never mind sing...but I will heal. I was lucky. Unfortunately I was due to perform at Hale Barns carnival the day after the fall, but I could neither speak sing, stand up sit down or anything without squealing lol true. .so we had to pull out. I have barely moved for days but have had visits from my children and friends etc..all that has cheered me up. I'm desperate to get all this out of the way so I can get on with completing my new Americana/country/folk album. I want to get back in the studio.”

BACKSTREET BOYS FAN ENDS UP PAYING AJ’S CAB FARE IN GLASGOW

Exclusive
Beverley Lyons
A Scots Backstreet Boys fan ended up paying the taxi fayre for one of the US singing stars when he said he didn’t carry any cash.
Louise Hendry, 37, a financial services administrator from Glasgow was waiting outside the band’s city centre hotel when the bizarre incident happened.
And she admits she still can’t believe that she ended up paying up the cash for one of the I Want It That Way idols.
Louise was standing outside Glasgow’s Blythswood hotel trying to catch a glimpse of the lads who played the SSE Hydro last night when singer AJ McLean from the band arrived from a shopping trip in town in a black cab.
Louise, a Backsreet Boys superfan,  who walked down the aisle to the song Drowning, and even has a lyric from the song tattooed on her neck, said: “AJ had left to go shopping earlier and came back with his minder in a black hack a few hours later. He was carrying lots of shopping bags. There were two girls from Germany waiting for him outside the hotel as well as me and when he saw us he said: “‘I’ll see you in a minute. I haven’t got any cash to pay my cab.”
He went inside the hotel and I could see him asking the concierge about where he could try and get some money. He was told there was a bank machine across the road, but I  told his minder I would pay it to save him any hassle. I rushed over and although the meter said £5.10 I gave the driver £6.”
“When AJ came out the hotel I told him I paid his taxi and he said: “I really appreciate it” and gave me a kiss and a cuddle.”

“I’ve loved the band since I was 22 when my sister liked them and had their dvd in the house . Brian initially caught my eye but I’ve loved them all since”.
“I was so happy when AJ came over for a hug and it was absolutely worth more than the £5.10 taxi fayre. He said he’d enjoyed his day shopping but had bought ‘way too much s***’ as usual.  It was priceless and made my day. I met a Brian later too and had a laugh with him.”
The married mum of one laughed: “AJ has not paid me back yet and I’ve already bought my £93 front row ticket but you never know, I might get an upgrade on the tour.”
Louise said it was lucky she had cash on her as normally she only has her card on her too.
She explained: “I don’t tend to carry cash any more but  I had it because we going for a Chinese meal. I guess I had to miss a starter because of that but I don’t care cause I had a great day.”

HEARTBREAKER LEGEND DIONNE WARWICK SERENADED BY SCOTS TEENAGERS IN GLASGOW

SHE was going to Walk on By, but Dionne Warwick stopped in her tracks as she was serenaded by a group of teenagers outside her Scots hotel.
The singing legend had performed at Glasgow’s Armadillo and was making her way back into the Blythswood hotel when she was treated to the impromptu performance.
Three young members of five piece Scots pop band G Side had wanted to meet her so decided to give her a rendition of her famous hit Heartbreaker in a bid of grab her attention - and it worked.
Dionne who was with her granddaughter at the gig listened intently to the singing trio before thanking them with a bow of the head and stepping inside the door.
Her granddaughter told me afterwards: “That was awesome.”
Earlier in the day Dionne had become emotional when she was shown pictures of Whitney Houston by one of her Scots fans.

JASON DONOVAN CELEBRATES FIFTIETH IN GLASGOW

Exclusive
Beverley Lyons
KYLIE Minogie might have celebrated her fiftieth birthday in London, but Jason Donovan spent his birthday weekend in Scotland - in a kilt.
The Neighbours heartthrob decided to fly up from London to Glasgow to perform at a charity bash.
The Too Many Broken Hearts hitmaker turned fifty on Friday and was a guest at Tartan and Tiaras at the city’s Doubletree Hilton the following day.
Having already celebrated his former Neighbours co star Kylie’s much lauded fiftieth in London last weekend he was more than happy to have a change of scenery.
For the occasion he was even given a kilt to wear by Heart radio drivetime presenter Paul Harper who had the pleasure of dressing him on the night.
Paul said: “Jason said he loved celebrating his fiftieth birthday weekend with Scottish fans. I gave him a kilt to wear and he wasn't sure at first how to wear it. It told him I’d help him get dressed. I guess it’s every girl’s dream to dress Jason Donovan and I had the pleasure of doing exactly that. He asked me if he should wear underwear with it and I told him he always should if the kilt is hired - which it was.”
On the night Jason was met by hundreds of screams as he teased: “Does anyone want to see what I have under my kilt?”
He also sang a clutch of hits including Especially For You.
And although Kylie wasn’t there he informed the crowd that his backing singer was called Kelly.
The event now in its 10th year, raised money for Calum's Cabin, Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde and DEBRA.

TAKE THAT HIGH ROAD ON THE BONNIE BANKS

TAKE That's Howard, Gary and Mark have been enjoying some chill time time on the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond in between their hot Scots dates at the SSE Hydro.
And after seeing a mob of female fans working for them outside their hotel Mark Owen joked that they got a bigger crowd there than at their Hydro gigs.

The trio were staying at the swish Cameron House hotel on the outskirts of Glasgow and were welcomed by fifty female fans who had waited to see them since the early hours of the morning.
And although the Greatest Love stars chose swanky Maybach Mercedes to travel in, they were nothing compared to the cars including Ferraris, Aston

Martins and Bentleys that were from the luxury rally also being held at the hotel.
Mark said: "There are more people here than are going to be at the gig tonight."
Gary and Howard also waved to fans as they waited on their cars.
Howard had to wait so long for his car that he mimed getting into it before it came.

The lads played a succession of nights at Glasgow's SSE Hydro and managed to have some chill time this morning with an early walk around the grounds.

DEACON BLUE FANS REBEL AT GLASGOW FILM THEATRE

DEACON Blue fans caused a revolt in a Glasgow cinema when ushers repeatedly told them to sit down during a film about the band.
The Scots group were airing the world premiere of their Live At The Glasgow Barrowlands documentary at Glasgow Film Theatre when some people in the audience tried to get up and dance.
As one woman got on her feet to the song Wages Day in the warehouse cinema, strict ushers attempted to get her to sit down only to be met with a wave of loud boos before the rest of the crowd got up from their seats in defiance in time for the anthem Dignity.
The cinema ended up like a mini version of the legendary Barrowlands venue without the spilled pints.
Following the showing, a thrilled Ricky Ross who admitted he was initially sceptical about the event said: "Seeing the audience reaction in the cinema was amazing. I remember years ago going to see Gandhi at the Odeon down the road and I'd never been to a film where they clapped at half time and at the end.
A friend of mine said at the time:'You were obviously never at the pictures on a Saturday morning. It was like that every Saturday when they were at the Western.".
Singer Lorraine Macintosh who is also married to Ricky added: "l've just watched Deacon Blue in concert for the first time. It was a very bizarre experience sitting there and during half of it, well most of it, I was looking at it through my finger's then I realised we're actually at a Deacon Blue gig tonight. I loved it. I'm not sure if I'd pay for it but I loved it."
Drummer Dougie Vipond added: "You've probably noticed Jim Prime isn't here. We could make something up but the truth is actually better. His mum is looking after his dog tonight so he had to get back and take his dog for a walk.
He added: "I think it was really important for us to play a gig in the Barrowlands because we finished in 1994 with a gig in the Barrowlands so it was a hugely emotional evening for all of us. It was a great night but I remember being in the dressing room beforehand in floods of tears so to go back it was hugely important."

JUSTIN BIEBER IN SCOTLAND'S COLDEST HOUSE

JUSTIN Bieber shunned top hotels to rent out a luxury mansion once known as 'Scotland's coldest house' in the heart of Perthshire for his four day visit to Scotland.
The singing star who plays the SSE Hydro tonight, Saturday and Sunday, is staying in the exquisite Kinross House, a late 17th century country house overlooking Loch Leven near Kinross - where T in The Park festival used to be held.
A tired Justin arrived at the house shortly before 3am this morning after his private Citation Jet landed at Glasgow airport at around one thirty am.
He was met by a fleet of people carriers and his own vehicle was kitted out with a large screen tv to allow him to relax after playing a show in Sheffield Arena.
The screen could be seen flickering as he made his journey to the house where he was met by a team of security who let him in though the huge electric gates.

The house boasts the first grand designed landscape in Scotland with Loch Leven Castle at its centre, a castle steeped in history having played host to Robert the Bruce, Sir William Wallace, John Knox and where Mary Queen of Scots was both imprisoned and abdicated in favour of her son James VI.
The fourteen bedroom house which also has an adjoining coach house with ten ensuite bedrooms and private spa was built in 1686, by the architect Sir William Bruce and is regarded as one of his finest works.
It hosts a formal dining room for up to 32 people - which would suit Justin's sizeable entourage - as well as an extensive whisky library with plenty of spirits on offer.
The house also has The Grand Salon, Garden Room, Gentlemen’s Drawing Room, Ladies' Drawing Room and Library and was called by Robinson Crusoe author Daniel Defoe "the most beautiful and regular piece of Architecture in Scotland".
As undoubtedly the most important early classical mansion in Scotland, it retains most of its original internal decoration and was occupied for 200 years as the home of the Montgomery family, who purchased the property in the late 18th century.
Despite its grandeur, it has been described as "the coldest house in Scotland", as until it was sold by the Montgomery family, it had only four radiators.
In 2010, it was sold for £4.25 million to Donald Fothergill, an English businessman, who thoroughly refurbished the house.
Some reckon it's haunted which would make it the ideal location for a Bieber Halloween party.
