STRICTLY STAR SUSAN CALMAN TRIES TO FIND HAPPINESS IN NEW SHOW

 

STRICTLY star and Scots comedian Susan Calman is searching for happiness on her new show - and she’ll be doing her utmost to chat to those who are bringing some cheers through difficult times. 

The chatty presenter is on a quest to investigate the weird and wonderful ways we are discovering unexpected hits of happiness in these uncertain times, in a brand new four part series for BBC Scotland.

 

Each week Susan Calman’s Happy Space will seek out and celebrate the many ways, however odd,  we are all seeking out the lighter side of life.   From her studio-based Happiness HQ Susan will be speaking to people around the country and joined by famous faces who will share some of the ways they’ve discovered happiness and, never one to shy away from embracing the more eccentric parts of life, Susan will be road testing a few herself.

 

Commenting on the series, Susan said:  “I'm so looking forward to spending time in my Happy Space, and finding out what's bringing people cheer in difficult times.  No matter how unusual or incredible it's a quest to find the joy in life.  And I'll be sharing some of the strange things that make me happy, like my Smurf Collection.  I can't wait to get started!”

We’re delighted Susan will showcase and celebrate some of these joyful activities with the BBC Scotland audience. Hopefully the series will inspire viewers to take up something new!”

 

Susan’s new show is part of BBC Scotland’s continued effort to commission programming in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Across the year it has worked closely with the independent production sector and collaborated with creative partners to bring a variety of content, across all genres, to help entertain and engage audiences.  Titles include the recently recommissioned Shelf Isolation, Socially Distant with Susan Calman,  Scenes for Survival, in partnership with the National Theatre of Scotland and Reflections at the Quay.   This is in addition to its comprehensive education service Bitesize which is available across television, iPlayer and online.

 

Susan Calman’s Happy Space is due to broadcast in March on the BBC Scotland channel and will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.  It is produced by Red Sky Productions for BBC Scotland.

ROCHELLE AND MARVIN HUMES CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY IN GLASGOW

ROCHELLE and Marvin Humes ended up celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary by snuggling in their hotel room watching Pretty Woman in ‘rainy’ Glasgow after they had to make a BBC Scotland TV show here. 
The couple were unrecognisable as they wore masks to cross Bells Bridge and posed in front of the city’s Armadillo and squinty Bridge as they made their way back to their hotel from the BBC building where they’ve been recording episodes of The Hit List.  
Pregnant Rochelle had spent the day managing to bathe her weary feet in a bubbling foot spa in between shows. 
Wearing a mask printed with Rochelle’s face on it as he walked, Marvin joked: “Hi guys it’s Roche here on her anniversary.”
He added: “So usually we’d be somewhere like Ibiza on our anniversary celebrating but we are here taking a lovely stroll in the rain and wind, but this is it, this is it, isn’t it, it’s real, you know what I mean?”
Rochelle added: “Listen you’ve got to take the good with the bad babe - that’s marriage.”
Posting an Instagram picture of herself and Marvin eating mango and tangerines in the rain on the the bridge Rochelle later wrote: “What are we doing tonight for our Wedding Anniversary I hear you ask. We have just wrapped and are off to our room for snacks. Rock and Roll.”


Later on she posted a video of a shirtless Marvin lying in bed eating organic seaweed crisps and watching Pretty Woman on their laptop with the message: “This I why I love you.”
Marvin, who was clearly in a romantic mood also wrote: “Eight years ago today I married the woman of my dreams..we said I do in beautiful settings surrounded by our loved ones..I’m so proud of us for every year since that day..we have two beautiful girls and a baby boy on the way..I couldn’t wish for anything more..you have given me everything I could ever want and more Rochelle Humes today is about our love and celebrating the vows we took and we meant every single word..you complete me and I will love you forever..ok gushing post over lol..I can’t wait for tomorrow and everyday for the rest of our lives..Happy Anniversary Mrs Humes..my soul mate.”

GLAGOW RESTAURANT TRIBECA FEATURES IN NEW TV SHOW

GLASGOW restaurant business TriBeCa can’t wait to be featured in a new BBC Scotland drama set in the city’s Bell street and Albion Street.
The American diner and neighbouring buildings will be filmed as part of new BBC Scotland show Guilt which will be filming in the Merchant City on April 12, 15, and 16.
The contemporary drama is being filmed by Expectation Entertainment and Happy Tramp North and broadcast on the new digital channel.
Production bosses have told TriBeCa and other businesses that their street will form part of the aftermath of a fire scene.
As well as mock fire engines and a squad of fake firemen the street will be made to look like it has endured the spray of hoses.
TriBeCa manager Colin Drummond said: “It’s pretty exciting. We got notification about the filming today and we can’t wait to welcome BBC Scotland to the Merchant City. Our staff will all be making sure we look our best for the occasion. We recently relaunched our menu so this gives us an excellent opportunity to showcase the unique and vibrant atmosphere of Glasgow’s entertainment district to the world.  We hope that viewers enjoy the drama ‘Guilt’ and that, after seeing us on telly will visit the entertainment hotspot of Scotland.”
A spokesperson from the production company said: “We have sought and been granted permission by Glasgow City Council to implement a road closure for the duration of these scenes. This particular scene will look like the aftermath of a fire. There will be two fire engines parked on the road and extras dressed as firemen. There will also be a wetting down of the pavement and road.”
Any parked cars will be cleared from the area ahead of filming.
Road closures on Bell Street and Albion Street are expected between 2pm until 8pm on April 16.

STILL GAME’S FORD KIERNAN DOES A BOABY THE BARMAN AT GLASGOW PUB

FORD Kiernan did his best impression of Boaby The Barman on a night out in Glasgow.
The Still Game actor who plays pensioner Jack in the BBC series couldn’t resist getting behind the bar at Nico’s for a cheeky pint or two.
The star is a regular at the haunt and even popped in unannounced with some of the other cast members to the Still Game quiz night they used to run.
Bar co-owner Stevie McColm said of his Friday night visit to the Sauchiehall Street haunt: “Ford was in good spirits when he paid us a visit on Friday. He was chatting with punters about the latest series and dancing away as he enjoyed some drinks.”
We joked about him getting behind the bar like Boaby The Barman and he decided to pour himself a pint of Guinness. It could be said that he was even better at it than Boaby himself.”
Ford also told a group of girls that he loves a bit of techno.
