MOËT MAGIC WITH MAMMA LION AT KIMPTON BLYTHSWOOD

CHRISTMAS is almost here and the corks are already popping to celebrate the magic at Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel.
Theshowbizlion.com was recently invited to the very special launch of the Moët & Chandon Bar in the swish hotel and we decided that mamma lion needed a night out too.
We were treated to a lovely night of songs from the Glasgow Gospel Choir along with Moet by the glass, delicious canapés and specially made Moët pretzels.
Founded in 1743, a bottle of Moet champagne opened every second around the globe so we were in excellent company.
From the iconic Moët Impérial to the Grand Vintage Collection, the extroverted Moët Rosé Impérial to the innovative Moët Ice Impérial, each champagne dazzles and delights with bright fruitiness, an enticing palate and an elegant maturity.

At Kimpton Blythswood, for those who feel a bit Naughty, Moet are offering their new cocktail, Fairytale of New York; Solerno blood orange liqueur and orange and clove syrup topped with Moët, and garnished with Moët-branded orange peel for sparkling splendour.
Of course, with mamma lion there we fell into the Nice camp so we can’t wait to go back and indulge in some Moët Champagne Afternoon Tea, offered daily 12pm to 5pm. As well as a classic combination of finger sandwiches, there are  scones served warm with clotted cream, sweet pastries and freshly baked cakes. The centrepiece of afternoon tea is, of course, a chilled glass of Moët. Cost is £46 per person with Moët Brut Imperial, £47.75 with Moët Rose Imperial served until the 30th of December, 2019.
Moët moments are best shared with loved ones and clinking our champagne proved to be the ideal pre theatre treat before a brilliant night at Glasgow's Tron Theatre where we enjoyed the launch of the brilliant Cinderfella.

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED AS MOET IMPERIAL ROSE CELEBRATES 1743 IN GLASGOW

1743 is a huge date in the Moët & Chandon calendar because that’s when the House first introduced its champagne to the world.

So it made sense that we celebrated that fact by having a ‘grand pour’ of the sparkling and elegant elixir at 17:43 exactly in Glasgow’s October Cafe.

As a guest of Moet Chandon, theshowbizlion.com was treated to an array of entertainment from the fab saxophonist Trav SAXingh who gave Cafe Del Mar a run for its money with his funked up melodies and DJ Kyle Brawley who kept the beats going strong all afternoon.

It was a civilised affair as Moët Rosé Impérial with its pink summery hues was served up on arrival in bespoke glasses to Glasgow’s style crowd.

Amongst them were our fellow bloggers Everyday Man, Gentleman Select and Blu Blazer Guy, STV’s Laura Boyd and The Evening Times Aftab Ali.

The ‘grand pour’ was a sight to behold as the Moët Rosé Champagne pyramid fountain was poured to breathtaking effect in the centre of October with complimentary toasts for revellers.

Fruity yet mature, it means that Summer has now officially arrived and we were thrilled to be part of a #MoetMoment.

CHAMPAGNE WIDOW TO RISE FROM DEAD DURING HAUNTED GLASGOW PARTY

VEUVE Clicquot is expected to rise from the dead tonight during an elaborate Scots Halloween party.
The Grande Dame of Champagne passed away 150 years ago and is planning to stir things up tonight at Hutchesons Bar & Brasserie, the award-winning venue in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City, for a spookily stylish night of mystery, indulgence and nocturnal fun.
Hutchesons Meet The Widow party this evening takes place in the lavish Grade A-listed landmark as it is transformed into a gloriously dark and twisted haunted mansion to mark the 150 years since the passing of Madame Clicquot.
The famed French businesswoman who took on her husbands wine business when she was widowed at 27, was a true visionary, developing crucial innovations that would shape the future of the Champagne industry.
The ticketed black tie Masquerade party at Hutchesons, set against the theme of ‘A Beautiful Darkness’, presents two alluring options for the evening; the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Dinner commencing 7pm, with season-inspired courses created by Rusk & Rusk Executive Head Chef, John Molloy, followed by the striking reveal at 8.30pm of the Veuve Clicquot Meet The Widow Halloween Party, hosted in The 158 Champagne & Oyster.
Gemma Leisegang, Moët Hennessy said, “Veuve Clicquot Meet The Widow Halloween Party at Hutchesons will be an unmissablecelebration of magical mystère; dark, indulgent and utterly enthralling. The most spellbinding Halloween party awaits.”
Rusk & Rusk co-owner, Louise Rusk added: “We have a real passion for throwing innovative and unique events here at Hutchesons, and Halloween is one of those occasions when we get to really open up our imaginations. We’ve built an incredibly strong relationship with Veuve Clicquot over the last twelve months, so getting to toast and raise a glass to the Grande Dame of Champagne herself is very exciting!”

CHRISTOPHER BIGGINS FLIES TO SCOTLAND AFTER BIG BROTHER CONTROVERSY

CHRISTOPHER Biggins fled the heat of London and the aftermath of Celebrity Big Brother by escaping to Scotland on a secret short break with his friends.
The larger than life TV personality apologised publicly after being at the centre of a racism and biphobia row following his time in the Big Brother house.
And straight after exiting the house he packed his case to take a holiday in Glasgow and get away from it all.
Biggins, who was removed from the house last week, was keen to get back to normality as he checked into the plush Hotel Du Vin in the stylish West end on Tuesday.
The hotel has been frequented by everyone from Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to George Clooney and Simon Cowell.

He visited the neighbouring Hyndland restaurant Epicures for some late lunch before popping into a newsagent across the road to buy some comfort snacks.
Looking bright and breezy in his pink hued jacket he went out drinking for five hours with his his friends.
Returning from his evening out shortly before ten pm he was in a jovial mood as he emerged from the taxi.
His friends laughed: "It's Santa Claus without the beard."
Asked how he felt after exiting the Big Brother house he added: "I've been made a scapegoat. I've been stitched up like a kipper."
Questioned if he was getting abuse on the street he added: "People on the whole have been nice to me thankfully and I love Scotland. I'm very much having a lovely time here with my friends."

It's thought that Biggins then visited Edinburgh to catch up with Lady Colin Campbell who had jumped to is defende following the CBB controversy.
One Fringe enthusiast tweeted: "Super to see lovely @onebiggins, who kindly let me Q-jump at airport yesterday, on way back to @Gildedballoon to @LadyColinCampb show".

MOET GIVES US THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO PARTY IN GLASGOW

CHAMPAGNE is something you normally drink on a very special occasion (unless you're lucky enough to have some on tap like Moet ambassador Scarlett Johansson).
And June 11 aka Moet Party Day was the perfect celebration to try some of the quite literally coolest champagne in the world.

Moet Ice was in abundance in Glasgow's Ashton lane as the champagne house marked the first champagne spray by Le Mans winner Dan Gurney in 1967 when he celebrated his win by impulsively spraying the crowd with his trophy Jeroboam of Moët & Chandon.

Glasgow's Lane Bar joined Edinburgh in being two of the 35 cities worldwide which took part in the festivities.
Later in the evening there was also a part at Corinthian Club with even more bubbles.

The all white party in Ashton Lane came complete with Balearic beats, DJ sets from Shae D and Nick Peacock and live saxophone beats.

Harry Potter and Departed actor David O'Hara was amongst the guests but the Moet was star of the show.
The white ice bottles and glasses were filled with cucumber, grapefruit and mint to set off the taste of the champagne which was slightly sweeter than usual.
It might have been Glasgow but with the outdoor seating, life rings, beach towels and ice buckets, theshowbizlion.com could have been in St Tropez.

YO! SUSHI GETS EVEN MORE AUTHENTIC WITH MENU AT NEWCASTLE LAUNCH

YO! Sushi has launched a brand new menu along with flagship stores in Sydney, Paris, Boston, New York, London and the rest of the UK.
The 100-dish Taste Of Tokyo menu boasts authentic dishes and brings the restaurant chain bang up to date with all things cool Japan.
As a big lover of sushi and YO!'s conveyer (kaiten) belt which tempts diners by showing them endless streams of appetising grub, (veteran telly fans think edible Generation Game) the Showbiz Lion was thrilled to be invited down to the new Flagship store in Newcastle.
Of course we're regulars at the Edinburgh Harvey Nicks store as well as the Buchanan Street and Silverburn stores in Glasgow but it's always nice to travel, especially to Geordie Shore land.
The store there boasts a flagship 69-cover restaurant on Grainger Street in the heart of the city, and the opening party was something else.
Walking in, it felt like we'd just landed in Tokyo.
Gwen Stefani and her Harajuku
Lovers could have been at the next table while K Poppers SuJu and bands like Baby Metal might have been in the booth opposite.

The interior takes inspiration from the city’s unmistakable street culture and creative energy and features a slogan wall which runs the full length of the restaurant, capturing the essence of life in this unique, fast moving, neon metropolis.

The food wasn't just raw fish - and our party got tucked into beef and numerous deep fried chicken wings as well as salmon, edemame beans and dumplings. Oh and there were cocktails and authentic Japanese beer too.
The opening party boasted a visit from Miss Newcastle herself as well as a DJ set from Let There Be House master of the decks Glen Horsborough.

Founded in 1997, six million guests now dine in YO! Sushi every year, and the numbers are set to increase.
We Gaijins (Japanese word for foreigners) were made to feel right at home and with a 'Wey Aye Man' here and there we soon got the party started.

Highlights on the new TASTE OF TOKYO menu include:

Okonomiyaki - Hot on the food scene in Tokyo, Okonomiyaki is a popular street food consisting of batter and cabbage served with a variety of toppings. Okonomiyaki translated into English means "As- you-like-it Pancake". Full of flavour, YO! Sushi’s Okonomiyaki is topped with mayo, katsu sauce, spring onion, aonori, beni shoga & katsuoboshi.

Chazuke - A traditional Japanese rice dish made with green tea, Chazuke has been served in Tokyo for centuries. It is the simplest of pleasures and is now available for the first time at YO! Sushi where it is served with nori, sesame paste, salmon & sea bass, oba leaf, yuzu koshu furikake seasoning & umami dashi.

Ginza Roll – As exclusive as the district it’s named after in Tokyo – this new roll contains fresh salmon, cream cheese, cucumber and arenkha caviar. Finished by rolling in crispy shallots and drizzled with teriyaki, sriracha & Japanese mayo.

Buta No Kakuni - A Tokyo classic! Always the first thing our group executive chef orders in a restaurant, try this slow braised pork belly and daikon in a sweet soy sauce with rice.
