GRADO AND JACK JESTER TRASH GLASGOW CITY CHAMBERS

Scots wrestlers Grado and Jack Jester shocked audience members as they slagged Glasgow’s Lord Provost and ran amok through the City Chambers, throwing and toppling bins over one another before being turfed out.
And Scots TV host Laura Boyd also got swung about the ring after she ran in to defend her wrestling friend Jack.
Blockbuster and ICW Pros Grado and Jester were celebrating Glasgows 850th anniversary at the Birthday Bonanza charity bash for the Lord Provost’s Children’s Fund when the chaos ensued.
Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren had welcomed local families to enjoy watching the sport which also featured wrestlers Jack Ripley, Colton Davis, Lewis Girvan, for the first  time at the prestigious council building when she was confronted by wrestler Jack Jester.
After she took the credit for organising the match, he told her angrily: “Well well well, look what the cat brought in. I’m not talking about you. I’m talking about you. Who do you think you are swaggering about my show with your big fancy chain on?”
The Lord Provost pointed her finger and replied: “This is my show.”before proceeding to call him ‘’Dafty” and urging the crowd to chant it with her.

During the title match, the Provost who had expected some ‘over the top high flying’ wrestling action on the night, admitted to being shocked when a seething Jester ran out of the ring and picked up one of the full rubbish bins  before throwing it and hitting Grado with it. Grado retaliated by dumping the contents over Jesters head. He then did it with a second one leaving the audience lost for words.
Jack, who then smacked a chair over Grado’s back, said: “They are booing me the star of the show. Grado, I don’t care how much they love you or how much the Lord Provost loves you, you are going to get done in right here, right now and it’s going to be quick.”
STV Telly host Laura Boyd also got lifted in the air and swung around by Grado after marching into the ring to defend her pal Jester. Laura, who is a wrestling fan, jeered at the children watching the show before she was shown the door alongside Jester by the Lord Provost.
Provost Jacqueline MacLaren said afterwards: “It was absolutely amazing and a great night in the City Chambers but I did get fed up with Jester smashing up my house so I just had to throw him out. He got what he deserved. I got him sorted. I was fed up with Laura too. She was giving it big time so I threw her out as well.”

Jack Jester admitted his £700 outfit was ‘ruined with bin juice’  following the bin fiasco, but said he was thrilled to do his bit for the charity.
And Grado added: “Fair play to the Lord Provost for letting a ring in there. Mind you, she did say afterwards she didn’t know we were going to throw bins about, but the weans loved it and the parents did too. We’re doing well. That’s twenty odd years we’ve been doing this so hopefully they’ll still be churning us out in years to come.”

PRIDE OF SCOTLAND GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

THE Daily Record’s Pride of Scotland event was full of glamour as celebrities graced the red carpet at Glasgow’s Hilton hotel.
Love Island’s Laura Anderson, who looked resplendent in a figure hugging red dress, revealed she’d gone for sustainable fashion for the night.
Laura, who was pregnant at last years awards, said: “ I’m very excited to be here. I’m the first one here. I feel like I’m the first at the party but it’s very exciting to meet everyone.”
Laura rented her dress from a website called HURR. She added: “It’s sustainable fashion and all that . It’s a little bit cheaper than buying which is always nice. I don’t know how many people have worn it but it smells nice.”
Laura who co presents the breakfast show on Capital radio said: “I’m just being a mum just now, getting up at four thirty in the morning.I don’t know how I manage it.
My little girl is now eight months old. Last year she was in my belly. She’s got such a fun personality. She’s so funny and she does crack me up. I’m just trying to be present and work for her. ”
Comedians Janey Godley and daughter Ashley Storrie arrived at the same time at the hotel but as Ashley talked about her recent filming of her comedy series Dinosaur, Janey disappeared to find the mini horse that arrived from Therapy Ponies Scotland.

Ashley said: “It’s so important to celebrate goodness in the world. We always go onabout the bad things that are happening but this is the good things and it’s important.”
Talking about her new BBC series she added: “ “I’m not a Dinosaur. I’m still a baby and not extinct.”
As Janey disappeared to join the tiny horse further down the carpet, Ashley added: “It doesn’t matter. I could have won an Oscar but my ma has met a tiny horse.”
Janey said afterwards: “That wee pony was a like a real life My Little Pony. I was stroking its hair and everything. I loved it.”
She wasn’t the only one enamoured by the tiny horse.
Asked if she might like to pose with it, or even take a shot at riding it, Susan Boyle who looked resplendent  in a pink dress from Frox of Falkirk laughed: “I’d probably buckle it.”

Another alternative for transport for the night was given by brothers Tom and Luke Stoltman, who offered to pick host of the night Elaine C Smith up on the red carpet.
As Elaine ran for cover, they picked up theshowbizlion.Com’s Bev Lyons instead.
The Three times world strongest man and two times European strongest man were thrilled to don their kilts for the occasion.
Luke said: “We are giving out an award tonight which  is really special. It’s  great to see all the amazing people here.  It’s not going to be a drunken night tonight for Tom and I because we have a lot of competitions.”
Fellow heavyweight Sheli McCoy aka Gladiator’s Sabre was also providing strength on the red carpet.
Sheli said: “I do feel a little bit like an imposter because there are some really amazing people tonight but I’m looking forward to enjoying the night and meeting everyone that deserves these awards. I’ve literally read some stories. I will need some tissues.”

Sheli from Dundee said of her role in the show: “My job is to meet force with force and to remind them again just why I’m there.”
As she was chatting, wrestler turned actor and presenter Grado joined her and revealed the two had never met before.
As they swapped a strong handshake, she admitted she didn’t know who he was.
Grado smiled and said: “She’s from the Gladiators and she doesn’t know who am are. Cmon. Ok there’s no lifting tonight.”
He added: “It’s good here cause I don’t think I’ve ever been at a Pride of Scotland awards. I’m excited I’m giving out an award. I’m with Mani from Scots Squad. I’ll get a night out with him and I’m sure the two of us will end up greeting.”

SCOTS WRESTLER GRADO STRANDED IN NEW YORK

SCOTS Wrestler Grado is stranded in New York after being caught up in Storm Stella.
The professional wrestler and Scots Squad actor admitted he'd been enjoying some extra time in the US city after British Airways cancelled his flight home.
He said: "I don't know when I'm going to get home and to be honest I don't really care. I was walking in Central Park yesterday thinking 'This is rubbish. I've only got a day and a half left' and then I got a text saying 'Your flight tomorrow has been cancelled.'
Kerry, my girlfriend, knew there was a big storm coming. British Airways texted me "Your flights been cancelled' but I don't care. There's worse places to be stranded in. Do you know what I mean?"
He added: "I'm buzzing. They say this is the biggest storm for years, the storm of the century but the bagel shop was still mobbed. Don't worry about me. I'm going to be safe, I'm going to be in the pub drinking beer, and eating ribs."
Grado has been told he may be able to fly back home on Thursday.

GRADO TAKES INSPIRATION FROM MICHAEL BARRYMORE

SCOTLAND'S cult Wrestler Grado has looked to Michael Barrymore for inspiration in his new comedy show.
The unitard wearing banter merchant reckons Barrymore was good at involving everyone of all ages in his performance and he's planning lots of laughs for his two shows in the Kings Theatre at Glasgow Comedy Festival.
Grado who will perform stand up in his own show It's Masel' on Thursday April 17 and Friday April 18 said: "I've got two shows at the Glasgow Comedy Festival which starts on March 20. I've never done stand up before but I I like to think of it like Michael Barrymore in the nineties. He was good with the old yins."
Realising that Barrymore may be a bit of a controversial role model he added: "Obviously I don't want to be promoting it as the Michael Barrymore Show but it will be about the weird and wonderful celebs I've idolised and what happened to them. There's weird stuff including my gran's tights but she's passed."
Grado who is is still an active part of Insane Championship Wrestling and is the former world heavyweight champion reckons he might feel a bit of pressure to be funny.
He added: "I think I'm funny but don't put me under any pressure now. The wee guy who cut my hair today is taking a wee Cypriot burd to the show so that's good.
Grado also claimed he packs his unitard everywhere he goes just in case the occasion calls for it.
He explained: "I always pack my gear in case a match ever breaks out. It can happen if you are walking across the town in Glasgow. There's never any hassle actually. People want selfies and it's all good banter. I've never had to get the muddle maker out.
